Job Description Are you an experienced Fire Protection Technician looking to join a team that plays a critical role in life safety and facility operations? This is an excellent opportunity to work within a professional maintenance environment supporting essential fire and life-safety systems. You'll be responsible for inspecting, testing, servicing, and troubleshooting a variety of fire protection equipment while helping ensure facilities remain safe, compliant, and operational. This position offers hands-on work, strong technical exposure, and the opportunity to grow your expertise across multiple fire protection systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on fire protection and fire alarm systems Service fire extinguishers and support sprinkler and related life-safety equipment maintenance Conduct preventive maintenance activities to ensure system reliability and regulatory compliance Assist with minor repairs and ongoing maintenance of fire protection equipment Respond to service calls and diagnose system issues in a timely manner Complete work orders, inspection reports, and documentation accurately and on schedule Build positive relationships with customers through professional communication and follow-up Participate in an after-hours emergency response rotation as required Support additional facility life-safety initiatives and maintenance projects as needed Requirements High school diploma or GED required Trade school, vocational training, or related technical education preferred NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II certification preferred, or Level I with the ability to obtain Level II Working knowledge of NFPA standards, including
NFPA 72, NFPA 25, NFPA 20, NFPA
92, and
NFPA 291
Experience inspecting, testing, maintaining, or troubleshooting fire protection systems Backflow certification preferred Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills Ability to read and interpret technical documents, procedures, and safety requirements Strong written and verbal communication skills Valid driver's license required Must be at least 21 years of age Ability to regularly lift up to 75 pounds Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and customer service The Planet Group is a global professional services firm delivering strategic staffing and advisory solutions.
