Responsibilities Install, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems, including proprietary control panels and sensors, ensuring full operational readiness. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, and construction drawings to accurately execute system design and installation plans. Conduct system troubleshooting using engineering troubleshooting techniques and electrical experience to diagnose issues swiftly. Perform construction inspections to verify compliance with building codes, NFPA standards (National Fire Protection Association), NEC (National Electrical Code), and local fire regulations. Utilize hand tools, voltmeters, CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, and other technical equipment to facilitate precise installations and repairs. Collaborate with clients to provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols. Ensure fire alarm systems are compliant with all relevant fire codes, NFPA standards, and local regulations through diligent testing and documentation. Requirements Proven experience in fire alarm system installation, maintenance, or service technician roles within the fire protection industry. Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems including sensors, proprietary control panels, schematics, and low voltage electrical work. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, electrical diagrams, and construction plans accurately. Mechanical knowledge related to sprinkler systems and fire sprinkler fitting is a plus. Familiarity with building code compliance requirements related to fire alarm systems and sprinkler installations. Proficiency in using hand tools, voltmeters, CAD software for system design or modifications. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Electrical experience including troubleshooting electrical issues in accordance with NFPA standards and NEC guidelines. Valid field service or service technician experience preferred; certification in fire alarm sales or system sales is advantageous.
