Overview Join our dynamic team as a Fire Alarm Technician and become a vital part of ensuring safety and compliance across commercial and industrial facilities. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing fire alarm systems to meet all fire codes and regulations. Duties Install fire alarm systems, including proprietary control panels, sensors, cabling and related components, following blueprints, schematics, and electrical blueprints. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on fire alarm systems to ensure optimal operation in accordance with NFPA standards and local fire codes. Conduct system testing using voltmeters, multimeters, and other hand tools to verify proper functionality of sensors, alarms, and low voltage wiring. Read and interpret electrical schematics, construction drawings, and engineering troubleshooting documents to accurately install or repair systems. Inspect building compliance with fire codes during construction projects, ensuring fire sprinkler fitting, low voltage wiring, and system design meet all regulatory standards. Document all service activities thoroughly in service reports; communicate effectively with customers to explain system status or necessary repairs. Assist in system design modifications or upgrades using CAD software to enhance fire alarm coverage or integrate new technology solutions. Skills Strong ability to read blueprints, schematics, electrical diagrams, and construction plans accurately. Knowledge of fire alarm systems including proprietary control panels, sensors, alarms, and NFPA standards. Mechanical knowledge related to sprinkler systems, fire sprinklers fitting, and low voltage electrical work. Experience with field service operations involving installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems. Proficiency with hand tools such as voltmeters, wire strippers, screwdrivers; familiarity with CAD for system layout design. Deep understanding of building code compliance requirements related to fire safety equipment installation. Excellent customer service skills to communicate clearly with clients about system performance or issues; ability to explain technical details effectively.
