Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Service & Troubleshooting Technician to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems across diverse commercial and industrial sites. Your expertise will ensure that fire alarm systems operate reliably and in compliance with all relevant fire codes, NFPA standards, and building regulations. Responsibilities Install, test, commission, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems, including proprietary control panels and sensors. Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure fire alarm systems are fully operational and compliant with NFPA standards and local fire codes. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, and construction drawings to accurately install and service fire alarm systems. Utilize hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and other field service equipment to perform electrical work related to fire alarm system installation and repair. Perform system design modifications using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to optimize fire alarm configurations. Inspect construction sites for building code compliance related to fire alarm installations and coordinate with contractors on sprinkler systems and low voltage wiring. Troubleshoot complex issues involving sensors, proprietary control panels, wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical circuits using engineering troubleshooting techniques. Maintain detailed service records, update system documentation, and ensure all work adheres to NFPA standards and NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements. Provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions, addressing client concerns, and ensuring satisfaction during service visits. Support sales efforts by demonstrating expertise in fire alarm system features and benefits when engaging with potential clients. Skills Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, electrical diagrams, and construction plans. Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and system design. Experience with CAD software for system layout modifications. Mechanical knowledge related to sprinkler systems and low voltage wiring. Familiarity with building code compliance requirements for fire safety systems. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and other field service equipment. Understanding of NFPA standards (National Fire Protection Association), fire codes, regulations, and safety protocols. Electrical experience including wiring practices consistent with NEC standards. Ability to perform construction inspection tasks related to fire alarm installations. Excellent customer service skills with a professional communication style. Construction or service technician experience preferred; familiarity with proprietary fire alarm control panels advantageous. Knowledge of sensors integration within fire alarm systems; experience in fire sprinkler fitting is a plus. Ability to read electrical blueprints accurately; experience in engineering troubleshooting essential. Experience in alarm system sales or fire alarm sales is beneficial but not required.
