Full-Time About Us M.P. Baker Electric, Inc. is expanding our Technology Solutions division and is seeking an experienced Access Control Technician to join our growing team. Our Technology Solutions division specializes in commercial access control, security cameras, structured cabling, and integrated security systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and agricultural customers throughout Indiana. Position Summary The Access Control Technician is responsible for installing, programming, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial electronic access control systems. This position works with customers to provide secure, reliable, and code-compliant access control solutions while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate has experience with commercial door hardware, electronic locking systems, low-voltage wiring, and access control software. Experience with IP-based camera systems and basic networking is highly desirable but not required. Key Responsibilities- Install commercial access control systems for new construction and retrofit projects
- Install and configure electric strikes, magnetic locks, electrified panic hardware, card readers, keypads, request-to-exit devices, and door position switches
- Pull, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling
- Install and program access control panels, controllers, and power supplies
- Configure user credentials, schedules, access levels, and system settings
- Troubleshoot hardware, wiring, software, and communication issues
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency service calls
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications
- Complete service reports and project documentation accurately
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs and recommendations
- Follow OSHA regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company safety policies
- Coordinate with project managers, office staff, and other field personnel Qualifications Required
- 3+ years of experience installing, programming, and servicing commercial access control systems
- Experience with commercial access control systems
- Knowledge of commercial door hardware and electrified locking devices
- Familiarity with Cat5e/Cat6 cabling and termination
- Basic IP networking knowledge
- Experience with cloud-based access control platforms
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screen
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work from ladders, lifts, and in various environments
- Basic computer skills Preferred
- Experience with CCTV camera systems
- Experience operating aerial lifts (scissor lifts and boom lifts)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Manufacturer certifications (Avigilon, Verkada, Brivo, Openpath, PDK, Genetec, etc.) Technology You'll Work With

Pay Range:
$28-$35 per hour, based on experience- Overtime opportunities
