Job Description
Apex Alarms is seeking an experienced Security Alarm / Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. We are looking for a dependable, knowledgeable technician who can install, program, service, troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain security and fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, industrial, and government facilities. Responsibilities Install, program, service, and troubleshoot burglar alarm and fire alarm systems Work with Honeywell, DSC PowerSeries, DSC NEO , and various other security and fire alarm panels Install and troubleshoot hardwired and wireless alarm devices Install and service smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, notification appliances, and related fire alarm equipment Diagnose system troubles, communication failures, wiring issues, ground faults, and defective devices Perform system inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance Install and troubleshoot cellular and IP alarm communicators Read wiring diagrams, system drawings, blueprints, and equipment documentation Run, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling Properly document service calls, installations, inspections, testing, and completed work Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, and other members of the Apex Alarms team Maintain a clean and professional work environment Complete projects efficiently while maintaining Apex Alarms' quality standards Licensing & Certification Requirements Must possess or be able to obtain the appropriate Louisiana security alarm technician licensing/endorsements required for the work being performed Louisiana Fire Alarm Technician license/endorsement strongly preferred for technicians performing fire alarm work Must possess or be able to obtain the appropriate Texas Alarm Installer license for security alarm work performed in Texas Texas Fire Alarm Technician (FAL) license preferred for technicians performing commercial fire alarm work in Texas NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification - Level I, II, III, or IV preferred Candidates holding NICET Level II or higher are strongly encouraged to apply Additional manufacturer certifications and industry licenses are a plus Must be able to maintain all required licenses, registrations, continuing education, and certifications applicable to assigned work Qualifications Previous experience with security alarm and/or fire alarm systems required Must be familiar with Honeywell and DSC alarm panels Experience with multiple alarm panel manufacturers strongly preferred Strong understanding of low-voltage wiring and troubleshooting Ability to program alarm panels and diagnose system problems independently Knowledge of fire alarm circuits, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, and system communications Familiarity with NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm installation standards preferred Ability to use multimeters, cable testers, and standard low-voltage installation and diagnostic tools Ability to work independently and complete assigned projects efficiently Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Must be dependable, punctual, organized, and professional Must be able to pass applicable background checks and licensing requirements Preferred Experience Experience with any of the following is a plus: Honeywell / Resideo DSC PowerSeries DSC PowerSeries NEO Fire-Lite Silent Knight Potter DMP Alarm.com Cellular and IP alarm communicators Commercial fire alarm systems Access control systems
