Job Description
Service Technician - Fire Alarm + Security ($30-45/hr, Stoughton MA) BBS Tech is a privately owned fire alarm and security integrator on the South Shore. We are looking for a Service Technician with experience performing fire alarm testing and inspections, troubleshooting fire alarm deficiencies, and providing responsive service for fire alarm and security clients. What you'll do: Perform fire alarm testing and inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 Chapter 14 and applicable local requirements. Identify and document deficiencies found during testing and inspections in our software program. Troubleshoot fire alarm system troubles, supervisory conditions, ground faults, device failures, communication issues, and other system problems. Service and troubleshoot security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion, and intercom systems. Diagnose problems efficiently and determine the appropriate repair or next steps when an issue cannot be resolved during the initial visit. Complete accurate and detailed field reports documenting work performed, materials used, system status, and any recommended follow-up. Maintain an organized company vehicle and appropriate service stock.
What you bring:
3+ years of experience servicing, testing, or installing commercial low voltage systems. Working knowledge of fire alarm testing and inspection procedures and NFPA 72 requirements. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in the field. Experience diagnosing and repairing fire alarm system deficiencies. Familiarity with commercial security systems such as access control, video surveillance, intrusion, or intercom. Ability to read prints, riser diagrams, and system documentation. Massachusetts Class D Systems Technician license or equivalent qualifications appropriate for the work performed and actively working towards licensure. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to pass required background/security checks. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to write clear field reports that explain what was found, what was completed, and what remains to be done.Bonus points:

We work with developers, GCs, and institutional clients on jobs ranging from 50-device upgrades to 1,000-device new construction. We work with top manufacturers (Edwards/EST, Lenel, Avigilon, Bosch, Hanwha, Aiphone) and we maintain factory certifications because that's what serious work demands. The owner is still a working tech: he still programs, still trains apprentices, and still walks job sites. The office exists to support the technicians, not the other way around.
