In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems to meet all fire codes and safety standards. Responsibilities Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems, including proprietary fire alarm control panels, sensors, and related components in accordance with building codes and NFPA standards. Conduct routine maintenance and system inspections to ensure optimal operation of fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering diagrams to facilitate accurate system design and installation. Troubleshoot complex electrical issues, perform engineering troubleshooting, and repair fire alarm systems using hand tools and power tools. Ensure compliance with all fire codes, NFPA standards, NEC regulations, and local building requirements during installation and service activities. Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to integrate fire alarm systems seamlessly into building infrastructure. Provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions, addressing client concerns, and delivering professional system sales or fire alarm sales when appropriate. Requirements Proven experience in fire alarm system installation, maintenance, or service technician roles within construction or building management environments. Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, sensors, proprietary control panels, schematics, building code compliance, low voltage electrical work, sprinkler systems, and NFPA standards. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, CAD drawings, and schematics with confidence. Mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently. Familiarity with construction inspection processes and working knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code). Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment for alarms or sensors is essential. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Construction experience or prior service technician experience is highly desirable. Valid certifications related to fire alarm systems or low voltage electrical work are preferred but not mandatory; relevant certifications will be considered an asset.
