Monday-Friday | No Evenings or Weekends Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Commercial Low-Voltage / Security Service Technician to perform installation, service, repair, and troubleshooting work at commercial customer locations. This is not an entry-level cable installer or cable-pulling position . We are looking for a technician who is comfortable working independently in the field and taking ownership of an assignment from start to finish. The ideal candidate can be provided with an address, project scope, or service ticket and independently arrive at the customer site, assess the situation, troubleshoot the system, complete the necessary installation or repair, verify proper operation, communicate professionally with the customer, document the work performed, and properly close out the ticket. Key Responsibilities Independently perform commercial low-voltage and security system installation, service, repair, and troubleshooting. Take ownership of service tickets from dispatch through final completion and closeout. Diagnose system, equipment, connectivity, and device failures and determine appropriate field repairs. Install, service, and troubleshoot commercial systems and equipment including: Fire alarm systems Access control systems CCTV and IP video systems Intrusion/burglar alarm systems Structured cabling Door hardware Electric strikes and magnetic locks REX devices Card readers Low-voltage power supplies Cat5e and Cat6 infrastructure PoE devices and connections Perform basic network and connectivity troubleshooting. Read and interpret prints, drawings, scopes of work, and technical documentation. Test, commission, and verify proper operation of installed or repaired equipment. Coordinate with customer IT/NOC personnel or remote technical support when needed. Take appropriate jobsite, installation, and completion photos. Prepare detailed and accurate service notes documenting findings and completed work. Properly complete and close service tickets. Qualifications Previous experience as a Commercial Security Technician, Low-Voltage Service Technician, Electronic Security Technician, Fire & Security Technician, Access Control Technician, or similar field service professional . Demonstrated commercial low-voltage installation and troubleshooting experience. Ability to independently diagnose problems and complete field repairs without direct onsite supervision. Experience with both project installations and service/troubleshooting assignments strongly preferred. Working knowledge of multiple commercial security and low-voltage systems. Understanding of Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, PoE, and basic network connectivity. Ability to read prints, drawings, and scopes of work. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Ability to accurately document work and complete service reports. Reliable personal truck, van, or other service-capable vehicle strongly preferred. Advanced programming experience is not required . Remote assistance can be provided for higher-level programming and technical issues. However, technicians must have enough field experience and technical judgment to identify problems, troubleshoot effectively, complete physical installations or repairs, and recognize when additional technical support is required. What We're Looking For We are looking for an experienced field service technician—not simply a cable puller . Successful candidates should be able to receive a service ticket, travel to the customer location independently, determine what needs to be done, troubleshoot the system, complete the work, verify proper operation, communicate with the customer, and provide clear documentation of the completed assignment. Experience across multiple low-voltage/security systems is preferred. Candidates do not need to be experts in every system listed, but they should have broad enough commercial field experience to confidently handle a variety of service environments.
