Monday-Friday, with occasional overtime as needed Job Summary We are looking for a dependable and experienced Access Control Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for the installation, service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of commercial access control and related low-voltage security systems. The ideal candidate is mechanically and technically inclined, takes pride in clean, professional installations, and is comfortable troubleshooting problems in the field. We are looking for someone who can work independently when needed while also being a reliable part of a team. Responsibilities Install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial access control systems Install and terminate card readers, keypads, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and other access control hardware Install and troubleshoot access control panels, power supplies, relays, and associated equipment Run, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling Diagnose wiring, hardware, communication, and system-related issues Work with electrified door hardware and coordinate access control components with doors and locking systems Program and configure access control equipment when required Read wiring diagrams, system drawings, floor plans, and equipment documentation Use meters, testers, hand tools, and power tools to diagnose and complete installations Maintain organized and professional wiring, panels, equipment, and work areas Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, project managers, and other technicians Document completed work, service issues, and equipment changes Follow applicable safety procedures, codes, and company installation standards Travel to customer locations and job sites as required Qualifications Preferred experience includes: Previous experience installing or servicing access control, security, or commercial low-voltage systems Understanding of access control wiring, relays, inputs/outputs, power supplies, and basic electrical concepts Experience with electric strikes, magnetic locks, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, and card readers Ability to troubleshoot systems methodically rather than simply replacing components Basic understanding of networking, IP addresses, and network-connected security equipment Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams Experience pulling and terminating low-voltage cable Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Good communication and customer-service skills Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Experience with additional systems such as video surveillance/CCTV, intrusion detection, intercoms, or other integrated security systems is a plus. Requirements Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to safely use ladders and common hand and power tools Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials commonly used in low-voltage installations Ability to work above ceilings, on ladders, and in commercial construction environments when necessary Ability to pass any background screening required for customer sites Willingness to learn new equipment, software, and technologies What We're Looking For Technical ability matters, but so does workmanship. We want someone who takes ownership of their work, troubleshoots problems instead of walking away from them, and understands that the small details of an installation matter. A properly dressed panel, labeled cable, securely mounted reader, and clean job site are all part of doing the job correctly.
