THE POSITION
Rudin, as agent, seeks to hire Mechanics Helpers to join the company. We are looking for a candidate that can hit the ground running. This is a Local 94 Union position subject to the terms of the 2023 Engineer Agreement between Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations, Incorporated and Local 94-94A-94B International Union of Operating Engineers AFL-CIO ("Contract"). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintenance Assisting in operation, maintenance and repair of building property and HVAC equipment as directed by licensed Engineers. Maintaining cleanliness of equipment, mechanical and back of house spaces. Miscellaneous work throughout the building requiring the use of hand tools. Performing supervised repairs on systems and equipment. Safety Recognizing signs of potential danger and enforce safety measures, immediately reporting all unsafe working conditions and ensuring that unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner. Understanding and complying with all company, local, state, and federal safety ordinances. Other Ad Hoc duties Data entry into buildings operating systems. Mandatory enlistment of the building Fire Brigade/Fire Life Safety Team. Proficiency in operating building Fire Alarm System. Interaction with tenants, providing first class service, and maintaining tenant confidentiality and security while working in sensitive areas. Shift schedule may vary depending on property. Attendance and participation in the Training Program, which must be completed within three (3) years. Basic knowledge of hand tools. Neat, clean, and professional appearance. Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including but not limited to bending, squatting, stretching, and working in a standing position for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. On occasion, may be required to lift items weighing more than 50 pounds. Computer skills are a plus. Punctual and reliable, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use sound judgment, show discretion, and maintain confidentiality. Detail oriented and extremely organized with the ability to multi-task A team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Licensing & Certifications Newly hired candidates are required to have five (5) of the following certificates issued by the New York City Fire Department (FDNY): CoF- A-35, Operate and Maintain Air Compressors CoF
- F-60, Fire Guard for Torch Operations CoF
- G-60, Torch Use of Flammable Gases CoF
- S-12, Citywide Sprinkler Systems CoF
- S-13, Citywide Standpipe Systems CoF
- S-14, Standpipe for Multi-Zone Systems CoF
- S-95, Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems CoF
- P-16, Supervise Low Per Square Inch Oil Burner CoF
- P-98, Fuel Oil Piping and Storage System CoF
- P-99, Low Pressure Oil Burner Operator Or any successor certifications as required by the FDNY. Candidates must obtain a CoQ
- Refrigerating System Operating Engineer license issued by the FDNY within two (2) years of completing the Training Program.
