Job Description

New York Fire Service is a Fire Alarm Inspection Technicians serving Long Island (Nassau & Suffolk County). This opening is appropriate for both: Entry-level candidates with electrical or low-voltage training who want to build a career in fire alarm systems. Experienced fire alarm inspectors capable of performing commercial testing and maintenance with limited supervision. Responsibilities Test and inspect commercial fire alarm systems. Perform semiannual maintenance in accordance with NFPA 72 and company procedures. Accurately document testing, deficiencies, and completed work using BuildingReports. Identify device failures, wiring problems, ground faults, open circuits, and other system issues. Perform limited troubleshooting and device replacement based on experience level. Communicate system conditions and next steps clearly to customers and internal coordinators. Arrive prepared with the required tools, PPE, and assignment information. Escalate access, material, scope, or system issues promptly. Maintain a safe, professional presence in occupied commercial buildings. Tier 1 Qualifications Electrical trade school completion or at least one year of electrical or low-voltage field experience. Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. Ability to follow testing procedures and document work accurately. Willingness to complete required fire alarm training and certifications. Prior fire alarm experience is not required. Tier 2 Qualifications Three or more years of recent commercial fire alarm testing and maintenance experience. Ability to perform inspections with limited supervision. Experience documenting deficiencies and completing inspection reports. Basic troubleshooting and device-replacement capability. Must have worked for a commercial fire alarm company within the past three years. NICET I or

a plus. Requirements for All Applicants Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Dependable, punctual, and professional in customer-facing environments. Comfortable working at active commercial job sites. Able to follow detailed procedures without guessing when life-safety systems are involved. Willing to work overtime and occasional evening shifts, including 4:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m., when required. Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory. Pay:
$20.00 - $28.00 per hour
