Columbus, OH 43215 Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Alarm Journeyman to join our team in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fire alarm installation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning, with a commitment to safety and quality. This role requires leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and assist other team members to promote a safety-first culture and efficient project completion. Follow detailed plans and fire alarm drawings, including riser diagrams, to complete assigned tasks accurately. Wire and install fire alarm systems according to manufacturer technical documents. Commission small size fire alarm projects and assist in learning to complete required NFPA commissioning paperwork. Perform testing, troubleshooting, and inspection of fire alarm equipment and small sections of installations. Assist with annual, semi-annual, and visual inspections as needed. Maintain accurate daily paperwork, generate material orders, and help produce precise as-built drawings and records. Maintain clear, concise, and respectful communication with team members, supervisors, and clients. Be receptive to feedback and continuously improve work quality and safety practices. Required Skills & Qualifications Current Ohio Fire Alarm Installers License. Completion of 10 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours annually. OSHA 10 Certification. Strong understanding of basic fire alarm installations and NFPA 72 standards. Ability to read and interpret fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, and manufacturer technical documents. Experience commissioning fire alarm systems and completing related paperwork. Proven ability to troubleshoot fire alarm equipment and installations effectively. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide others. Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills. Commitment to safety and quality in every task performed. Clear, concise, and respectful communication skills. Work Environment This position requires working on construction sites and various project locations in and around Columbus, OH. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment and adapt to changing project needs while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
