Job Description
Apex Fire Protection LLC is a growing fire protection company based in the Cincinnati area. We currently provide fire extinguisher service, inspections, sales, and emergency/exit lighting services. We are now adding fire alarm services and are looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Lead Technician / Division Lead to help launch and build this division. This is not a helper position. We need someone who can lead from the field, run jobs correctly, troubleshoot systems, communicate with customers and inspectors, and help Apex build the fire alarm side of the company from the ground up. This role is for an experienced fire alarm technician who wants more upside and responsibility than a normal technician role. Compensation This is a production-based lead technician role.
Pay includes:
Guaranteed per-job base pay Plus 10% production bonus on eligible completed and collected fire alarm invoices High upside as the fire alarm division grows Bonus applies to eligible fire alarm service, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and related invoices completed and collected by Apex Fire Protection. Bonus excludes sales tax, permit fees, third-party subcontractor charges, and pass-through material costs unless approved in writing. Responsibilities Lead fire alarm service, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and installation jobs Diagnose fire alarm system issues in commercial properties Perform fire alarm inspections and testing according to applicable codes and standards Work on panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, circuits, batteries, power supplies, communicators, and related equipment Read plans, wiring diagrams, panel documentation, and system layouts Identify deficiencies and help create repair recommendations Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, inspectors, and company leadership Help price jobs, build material lists, and document job scope Support permitting, AHJ coordination, and closeout documentation when needed Train and guide helpers/apprentices as the division grows Help Apex build repeatable systems for fire alarm service, inspections, installs, and customer follow-up Requirements Current Ohio State Fire Marshal Fire Alarm and Detection Equipment certification required Fire alarm field experience required Commercial fire alarm experience required Ability to lead jobs without constant supervision Strong troubleshooting ability Ability to communicate professionally with customers and inspectors Valid driver's license Reliable transportation Ability to work in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton, Mason, West Chester, Milford, and surrounding areas as needed Preferred Qualifications NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification preferred Strong NFPA 72 knowledge preferred Experience with common fire alarm panels such as Fire-Lite, Silent Knight, Notifier, Potter, Edwards/EST, Simplex, Bosch, or similar systems Experience with tenant buildouts, retrofits, deficiency repairs, inspections, and service calls Ability to help estimate jobs and create material lists Interest in helping build and lead a new division, not just working as a basic technician Who This Role Is For This role is for someone who wants responsibility, upside, and leadership.
