This position prepares code-compliant designs, hydraulic calculations, permit submittals, and shop drawings while coordinating with project teams, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). Occasional travel to project sites may be required. Key Responsibilities Design automatic fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pump, and water storage tank systems. Prepare shop drawings, layout plans, hydraulic calculations, material take-offs, and fabrication drawings. Prepare and submit permit packages to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and respond to plan review comments. Coordinate sprinkler designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, and other building systems. Participate in project kickoff meetings, coordination meetings, and design reviews. Conduct field visits as needed to verify existing conditions and provide technical support during construction. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, fabrication vendors, and field personnel throughout the project. Prepare as-built drawings and project closeout documentation. Support contractor licensing, permit applications, and regulatory compliance for projects across multiple states. Stay current with NFPA standards, local codes, and industry best practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications NICET Level III Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (required). Must possess all applicable state-required certifications, registrations, or licenses for fire sprinkler system design. Minimum 5 years of fire sprinkler system design experience. Strong knowledge of
NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, NFPA 13D, NFPA 25
, and applicable building and fire codes. Experience designing wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pump, and water storage tank systems. Experience preparing hydraulic calculations, shop drawings, permit submittals, and coordinating with AHJs. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection drawings. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote work environment. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, semiconductor, or data center projects. Experience supporting contractor licensing and permitting across multiple states. Knowledge of NFPA 72 and fire alarm system coordination. Experience with Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Computer & Software Skills Proficient in AutoCAD. Experience with HydraCAD, HydraCALC, AutoSPRINK, HASS, SprinkCAD , or equivalent fire sprinkler design and hydraulic calculation software. Experience with Revit/BIM is preferred.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
