Job Description
Computers Nationwide is one of the leading companies in physical security, IT services, and technology-based projects, including video surveillance, low-voltage cabling, access control solutions, VOIP phone systems, and smart building technologies. The company is headquartered in Vernon Hills, IL, with an additional office in Janesville, WI. We predominantly service Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, with a growing national presence. We are seeking a SeniorSystems Technician to join our systems team. This role is responsible for programming, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting video surveillance systems, access control systems, door intercoms, and burglar/alarm systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in both field service and remote/virtual support. Work may be performed both in-office and on-site depending on project requirements. This position requires strong technical skills, basic networking knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers. Standard hours are 8:00am-5:00pm, though schedules may vary based on project demands.
Job Duties Include:
Configuration, setup, and programming of cameras, NVRs, and video management systems Configuration and setup of access control panels, card readers, and door hardware (mag locks, strikes, etc.) Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of burglar/alarm and intercom systems Advanced troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network-related issues Installation and setup of video surveillance and access control software platforms Performing firmware and software updates as needed Working with manufacturer technical support to resolve complex issues Running and terminating low-voltage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6) as required Completing proactive and reactive service calls Providing remote/virtual support including system diagnostics and customer assistance Train end-users on system functionality and best practices Documenting all configurations, changes, and service work in CRM Communicating directly with customers to ensure satisfaction and project success Assisting with system upgrades, expansions, and integrationsQualifications and Skills:
3-5+ years of experience working with video surveillance, access control, and/or alarm systems preferred (will consider less experience for strong candidates) Basic to intermediate networking knowledge (IP addressing, port forwarding, VLANs is a plus) Experience with low-voltage systems and installation best practices Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team Basic PC and software proficiency Valid driver's license and ability to travel within service areaPay:
