We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled Security Technician to specialize in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of burglary alarm systems. Job Overview:
The Security Technician - Burglary Systems Specialist is responsible for designing, installing, and servicing intrusion detection systems for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The ideal candidate will have expertise in alarm technologies, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Configuration:
Install, program, and configure burglary alarm systems, including motion detectors, door/window contacts, glass break sensors, and control panels. Set up wired and wireless alarm systems in compliance with manufacturer and industry standards.
System Maintenance & Repair:
Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance to ensure system functionality and compliance. Diagnose and resolve technical issues with alarm systems promptly and effectively.
Integration:
Integrate burglary systems with other security technologies, such as surveillance cameras, access control systems, and mobile applications. Configure remote monitoring systems and test alarm signal transmission to monitoring center.
Customer Support & Training:
Provide on-site and remote technical support to clients. Educate end-users on system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance best practices.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all installations meet local, state, and federal regulations, including UL and NFPA standards. Maintain accurate records of service calls, system configurations, and installations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
Proven experience with burglary alarm systems such as Alarm.com, DMP, Honeywell, DSC, Bosch, or equivalent. Strong knowledge of alarm installation techniques, low-voltage wiring, and system programming. Familiarity with alarm monitoring systems and signal transmission technologies. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
Certification in alarm systems Experience integrating alarm systems with smart home technologies or IP-based platforms. Basic understanding of cybersecurity practices related to alarm systems.
Work Environment:
Ability to work in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs., working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders. Availability for on-call support and emergency service requests.
