Position Summary The Fire Sprinkler Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating fire sprinkler installation crews while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to approved plans, specifications, applicable codes, and company standards. The Foreman will serve as the primary field leader for assigned projects and will coordinate with Project Managers, General Contractors, Superintendents, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades. Key Responsibilities Field Supervision Lead, supervise, and motivate fire sprinkler installation crews. Assign daily tasks and monitor crew productivity. Ensure employees have the materials, tools, equipment, and information necessary to perform their work. Maintain an organized and productive job site. Train, coach, and mentor apprentices, helpers, and sprinkler fitters. Hold crew members accountable for quality, productivity, attendance, and safety. Communicate project needs and field conditions to the Project Manager. Fire Sprinkler Installation Install commercial and industrial fire sprinkler systems. Perform pipe layout, fitting, hanging, bracing, grooving, threading, cutting, and assembly. Install sprinkler heads, valves, risers, hangers, seismic bracing, and related components. Perform underground-to-overhead coordination as required. Make system modifications and repairs in accordance with approved plans. Assist with hydraulic system components and specialty fire protection systems as applicable. Verify installations are completed correctly before inspections and testing. Plans & Project Coordination Read and interpret construction drawings, sprinkler shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and specifications. Identify conflicts between sprinkler plans and existing site conditions. Coordinate sprinkler installation with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, and other trades. Identify potential problems early and communicate them to project management. Work with the General Contractor and other trades to maintain project schedules. Assist with material takeoffs and identifying required materials. Verify that field installation matches approved drawings. Testing & Quality Control Perform or assist with required system testing. Inspect completed work for quality and code compliance. Prepare systems for inspection by the AHJ and other authorized inspectors. Troubleshoot installation issues and make corrections as needed. Ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly. Maintain company quality standards on every project. Safety Lead by example and maintain a strong safety culture. Follow all OSHA requirements and company safety policies. Conduct or participate in daily toolbox talks and job-site safety meetings. Ensure proper use of PPE, ladders, lifts, tools, and equipment. Identify and report unsafe working conditions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Stop work when an immediate safety hazard is identified. Documentation & Communication Complete daily reports and project documentation. Track labor, materials, equipment, and job progress. Communicate schedule changes and field issues to the Project Manager. Document change-order work and additional work when required. Maintain accurate records of testing, inspections, and completed work. Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, and coworkers. Required Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of commercial fire sprinkler installation experience . Previous experience as a Fire Sprinkler Foreman, Lead Sprinkler Fitter, or equivalent. Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler installation methods and practices. Ability to read and understand sprinkler shop drawings and construction plans. Working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards and local fire codes. Experience leading and directing field crews. Strong understanding of construction-site safety requirements. Ability to troubleshoot field installation problems. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work overtime when project schedules require it. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual-English and Spanish. State or local fire sprinkler license/certification, where applicable. Experience with commercial, industrial, multifamily, or large-scale sprinkler projects. Experience operating scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and other construction equipment. Strong computer/tablet skills for completing digital project documentation. NICET certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to perform physical construction work, including: Lifting and carrying fire sprinkler pipe, fittings, tools, and equipment. Working overhead for extended periods. Climbing ladders and stairs. Working from aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and elevated platforms. Bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and standing for extended periods. Working in unfinished construction environments. Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
