Job Description
Access Control Technician - Vermont Location Barre, VT Travel throughout Vermont and surrounding New England areas. Position Summary The Access Control Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic access control systems, surveillance systems, and related security technologies. This role ensures systems operate effectively to meet customer specifications and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, and service access control systems including card readers, keypads, biometric devices, and control panels. Install and maintain CCTV and integrated security systems. Run and terminate low-voltage wiring in commercial environments. Troubleshoot system issues and perform diagnostics to resolve technical problems. Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications. Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and customers on job progress. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company standards, and applicable codes. Complete service reports, documentation, and commissioning paperwork accurately. Additional Responsibilities Assist with material staging and deliveries from the branch when needed. Support pre-installation prep and coordination with warehouse/shop teams. Represent Kelley Bros professionally on all jobsites. Qualifications 2+ years of experience with access control or electronic security systems preferred. Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and installation practices. Experience with major systems (Lenel, Genetec, Software House, or similar) is a plus. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and schematics. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites. Skills & Attributes Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Work Environment Daily travel to jobsites across Vermont. Outdoor and indoor construction environments (all seasons). Occasional early starts depending on jobsite requirements.
