Duties Prepare vehicle surfaces meticulously through sanding, masking, and surface cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion. Apply primers, base coats, clear coats, and specialty paints using conventional spray guns or airless paint sprayers with precision. Conduct surface preparation tasks including sanding, grinding, and buffing to achieve smooth, even finishes. Use automotive buffing tools and techniques to enhance paint gloss and remove imperfections for a showroom-quality look. Perform auto body repairs such as welding, panel alignment, and minor structural fixes before painting. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols including respiratory protection when handling paints and chemicals. Assist with vehicle maintenance tasks related to auto restoration and auto glass replacement as needed. Skills Proven experience as an auto body painter — this is not an entry-level position. Strong knowledge of paint mixing systems and color matching Proficiency with welding, grinding, sanding, and the use of hand tools and power tools essential for surface preparation and repairs. Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems to support auto restoration projects. Expertise in automotive buffing, detailing, and surface finishing techniques to achieve high-quality results. Skilled in operating various spray guns such as conventional spraying equipment and airless paint sprayers for optimal coating application. Knowledge of automotive surface preparation including masking techniques to protect non-painted areas during spraying. Ability to handle heavy lifting safely while working on vehicle components or parts during repair processes. Familiarity with auto estimating processes and customer service principles to ensure client satisfaction.
