As a Paint Prepper, you will be the foundation of exceptional auto body refinishing, utilizing your mechanical skills and attention to detail to set the stage for stunning auto restorations and paint jobs. This paid position welcomes passionate individuals eager to develop their expertise in automotive surface preparation and refinishing techniques. Duties Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, and cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality Use hand tools, grinders, power tools, and spray guns—including airless paint sprayers—to apply primers, sealers, and base coats with precision Mask off areas using surface preparation masking techniques to protect non-painted surfaces during spraying Conduct surface inspections to identify imperfections requiring sanding or minor repairs before painting Assist with auto body repair tasks such as buffing, auto glass replacement, and minor dent removal when needed Follow safety protocols including proper use of respiratory protection and handling of paints and chemicals Support auto restoration projects by preparing vehicles for final painting, ensuring all surfaces are smooth and properly prepped Skills Prior dealership experience or background in automotive body refinishing highly preferred Strong mechanical knowledge combined with experience in welding, grinding, sanding, and buffing techniques Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, grinders, and spray guns used in automotive surface prep and painting Knowledge of automotive buffing, auto painting, detailing, and surface preparation masking procedures Ability to operate airless paint spraying equipment safely and effectively Familiarity with auto glass installation, auto estimating processes, and heavy lifting requirements Excellent customer service skills paired with a proactive attitude towards safety standards such as respiratory protection This role is perfect for motivated individuals seeking hands-on experience in automotive refinishing while contributing to high-quality vehicle transformations.
