In Person Position Overview Established Classic car Restoration shop in Fort Lauderdale is hiring a Working Manager / Lead Technician to oversee and actively participate in high-end restoration builds, bodywork, fabrication, paint operations, and estimating. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can: Lead technicians while producing at a high level Maintain quality control across body, paint, and assembly Help estimate restoration and fabrication work accurately Manage workflow from teardown through final delivery Take ownership of fit, finish, alignment, and overall build quality We specialize in: Frame-off restorations Restomods and custom builds Metal fabrication and rust repair High-level body and paint work Final assembly and detailing This is restoration work — not insurance collision production. Core ResponsibilitiesLeadership + Shop Oversight Lead and work alongside restoration/body/paint team daily Maintain production flow and build quality Inspect work before vehicles move to next stage Help organize workflow, scheduling, and execution priorities Identify problems early and prevent rework Estimating & Project Evaluation Help inspect incoming restoration projects Assist in writing realistic labor and repair estimates Identify hidden rust, fabrication needs, and potential scope changes Communicate build requirements and timelines clearly Help ensure projects are properly scoped before work begins Body & Fabrication Rust repair and structural metal replacement Custom fabrication and welding Panel alignment and body fitment Door, hood, trunk, and fender gap alignment Blocking, sanding, and final prep Paint & Finish Primer, sealer, basecoat, and clear application High-end paint preparation and finish work Wet sanding and buffing Final paint correction and detail-oriented finish inspection Work closely with assembly team to protect final finishes Build Completion Disassembly and reassembly during restoration builds Final quality control before delivery Maintain professional shop standards and organization How Our Shop Operates Projects are fully funded before work begins Parts are secured upfront No abandoned or stalled builds Clear scope and realistic timelines Quality standards come before speed We maintain a professional, structured restoration environment focused on long-term craftsmanship and team culture. Compensation & Benefits $40
  • 50 per hour depending on: Leadership capability Paint/body/fabrication skill level Estimating and project evaluation ability Independence and production quality Above-market compensation for experienced restoration professionals Steady year-round restoration work Professional equipment, tools, and facility Opportunity to help build and lead a growing restoration operation Senior-level technicians capable of independently managing restoration builds, estimating repairs, and maintaining high-level finish quality are compensated at the top of the range.
Ideal Candidate Experienced restoration body technician, painter, fabrication lead, or shop foreman Strong understanding of: Metal work Paint systems and finish quality Body alignment and panel fitment Restoration estimating and project planning Able to lead while remaining hands-on Detail-oriented with pride in craftsmanship Looking to work on classic/custom vehicles instead of insurance rush work Who This Position Is NOT For Production collision-only technicians Managers who do not want to work hands-on Technicians without restoration or fabrication experience Individuals focused only on speed over quality Why This Position Exists We are building a stronger restoration division and need someone capable of: Raising overall quality standards Increasing workflow efficiency Reducing rework and bottlenecks Improving estimate accuracy and project planning Helping lead complex builds from start to finish Call to Action If you can lead builds, estimate projects properly, manage quality, and still work with your hands at a high level, we should speak.
