Job Description

Experienced Heavy-Duty Collision / Body Technician Collision Solutions Truck Repair, LLC - Des Moines, IAFull-Time | Monday-Friday Looking for a shop where you can actually take pride in what you do? Collision Solutions Truck Repair is a locally owned, family-operated heavy-duty collision repair shop in Des Moines, Iowa, and we're looking for an experienced Collision / Body Technician to join our team. We're not a production-line body shop, and we don't do the same repair over and over. Our technicians work on everything from Peterbilts and Kenworths to RVs, motorcoaches, ambulances and fire trucks. Some repairs are straightforward. Others require mechanical knowledge, electrical skills, fabrication, creativity and some good old-fashioned figuring-it-out. If you're an experienced technician who enjoys challenging work and seeing a damaged vehicle come back together the right way, we'd like to talk to you. What You'll Be Doing Depending on the job, your work may include: Heavy-duty collision and body repair Disassembly and reassembly Fiberglass and panel repair Structural and body repairs Removal and replacement of damaged components Mechanical disassembly and reassembly related to collision repairs Diagnosing, disconnecting, repairing and reconnecting electrical components and systems Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues related to repairs Welding and fabrication Working through repairs independently from teardown to completion Heavy truck, RV, motorcoach and emergency vehicle repairs Who We're Looking For Heavy-duty collision experience is a big plus, but it isn't necessarily required. If you're an experienced automotive collision technician with strong body repair skills, good mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge—and you're interested in doing something different—we'd like to meet you.
The right person:
Has solid collision/body repair experience Has good mechanical skills and understands how vehicle systems and components work Has automotive electrical knowledge and is comfortable working with electrical components and systems Is comfortable with disassembly and reassembly beyond exterior body panels Can troubleshoot and problem-solve when a repair isn't straightforward Has welding and/or fabrication experience, or is comfortable learning Takes pride in craftsmanship and doing the job right Pays attention to the details Can work independently Is dependable and shows up ready to work Works well as part of a small team Cares about the finished product Because of the variety of vehicles we repair—including heavy trucks, RVs, motorcoaches, ambulances and fire trucks— strong mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge are especially valuable in this position. Why Collision Solutions? We're locally owned and family operated, and that's important to us. You won't be one of dozens of technicians in a corporate shop. We're a small team where your experience, ideas and craftsmanship matter. You'll also get variety. We take on repairs other shops can't—or simply don't want to handle. Our work can range from traditional collision repair to fiberglass, fabrication, structural repairs, electrical and mechanical work. No two weeks look exactly the same. We're proud of the work that leaves our shop, and we want our technicians to be proud of it too. What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience and skill level Full-time, year-round position Monday-Friday schedule Benefits (PTO, paid holidays, health insurance, Simple IRA) Variety of challenging and interesting work Locally owned, family-run environment Opportunity to grow with our company About Collision Solutions Collision Solutions Truck Repair was built on more than 30 years of collision repair experience and a simple belief: do good work and take care of people. If you're an experienced technician looking for something different from the typical body shop, we'd like to meet you.
