Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to assess the extent of collision or repair needs. Prepare detailed and accurate repair estimates using advanced estimating software, ensuring all necessary repairs are included. Communicate effectively with customers to explain repair procedures, costs, and timelines, providing excellent customer service throughout the process. Collaborate with technicians and mechanics to verify repair scopes and ensure estimates align with actual work required. Upsell additional services such as vehicle maintenance, alignments, tire services, or mechanical repairs when appropriate to enhance customer satisfaction and shop revenue. Manage client communication from initial estimate through final approval, keeping customers informed at every step. Assist in processing insurance claims by providing detailed documentation and estimates for claims adjusters. Maintain organized records of all estimates, repairs, and client interactions for compliance and reporting purposes. Support auto service management by ensuring all work adheres to quality standards and safety protocols. Handle cash transactions accurately when applicable and ensure proper documentation of all financial exchanges. Experience Proven experience as an automotive estimator or in a similar collision repair role within a dealership or independent body shop environment. Familiarity with estimating software such as CCC ONE, Audatex, or Mitchell is highly preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge across various vehicle systems including transmissions, suspensions, brakes, air brakes, shocks & struts, diesel engines, and oil changes. Hands-on mechanic experience or background working with automotive diagnostics enhances your ability to assess repairs accurately. Knowledge of auto body repair processes including collision repair techniques and auto estimating procedures. Experience in auto service management or service writing is advantageous for understanding workflow and customer needs. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and explaining technical details clearly. Ability to upsell additional services confidently while maintaining integrity and customer trust.
