Job Overview Join our dynamic auto body shop team as a Body Shop Painters Assistant and play a vital role in delivering top-quality vehicle refinishing and repair services. You will be instrumental in preparing vehicles for painting, assisting with spray applications, masking, sanding, and ensuring all surfaces meet our high standards for quality and finish. Duties Assist with surface preparation including masking, sanding, and cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion. Support the application of paints and coatings using spray guns, including conventional and airless paint spraying techniques. Help with the setup and operation of power tools such as grinders, sanders, and buffing machines to refine vehicle surfaces. Maintain a clean and organized work environment by properly handling waste materials and cleaning tools after use. Aid in auto body repair tasks such as minor dent removal, surface refinishing, and auto restoration projects. Ensure proper use of respiratory protection equipment to maintain safety standards during spray painting processes. Assist with auto glass installation or replacement as needed during vehicle repairs. Experience Must have at least 1 year experience or currently enrolled in Auto Body schooling. Dealership experience or hands-on work in an auto body shop is highly preferred. Familiarity with welding techniques and mechanical knowledge is advantageous for supporting various repair tasks. Experience with hand tools, power tools, grinders, sanders, buffing machines, and spray guns is essential. Knowledge of automotive surface preparation, masking techniques, sanding procedures, and painting/coating application methods. Understanding of automotive buffing, auto painting, detailing, and auto restoration processes. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during vehicle handling or parts movement. Strong customer service skills and basic auto estimating knowledge are beneficial for supporting shop operations.
