Job Description

The Refinish Technician Helper plays a vital role in supporting the refinish department by assisting technicians in preparing vehicles for painting and maintaining an efficient workflow throughout the refinishing process. This position requires a basic understanding of collision repair and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork. The Refinish Technician Helper works closely with lead painters, estimators, repair technicians, and other team members to ensure timely, high-quality repairs that meet company and industry standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced setting while eager to learn and grow within the trade.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assist refinish technicians with vehicle surface preparation, including sanding, masking, taping, and cleaning prior to painting. Support painters by mixing paint, preparing spray equipment, applying primers, and ensuring accurate color matching and coating application. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company procedures and safety standards. Operate and maintain refinishing tools and equipment such as spray guns, sanders, power tools, and hand tools in a safe and proper manner. Assist with documentation of repairs and maintain accurate records for each vehicle as required. Follow all safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators, at all times. Adhere to all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, including proper handling and disposal of paints, thinners, and hazardous materials. Collaborate effectively with technicians, painters, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results. Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall shop operations.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED required. 6 months of related experience in collision repair preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Language Skills Ability to read repair estimates and work orders Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid driver's license and clean driving record required I-CAR Certification desirable not required. Physical Demands Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, kneel, and stand for long periods.
