Non-exempt "hourly status" Job title Shop Autobody Technician Reports to Shop Supervisor Job purpose This Technician will perform minor and major autobody repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of company vehicles. Duties and responsibilities Evaluate designs and specs Performs sanding and grinding Assist or perform rebuilds, replacements, or repairs of autobody components and damaged parts. Customize autobody parts to specification. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures, and follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA Standards, ensuring shop equipment and tools are in safe operating condition Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately Perform other job-related duties as assigned Education and Experience
- Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles
- Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company fleet
- Ability to judge the distance between equipment and an object
- Ability to repeatedly adjust the control and placement of equipment to exact position
- Ability to recognize unacceptable waste (such as gasoline or other flammable materials)
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other state and federal regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity and trust
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines
- Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Flexibility to accept and adapt to change as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operation, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
- Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects (repetitively)
- Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example: two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing
- Ability to make simple and repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Knowledge of proper lifting techniques
- Ability to follow all company safety policies and procedures
