Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Auto Body Technician Tear Down to join our dynamic automotive repair team. In this role, you will be responsible for disassembling vehicles with precision and care, preparing them for subsequent repair processes. Your expertise in automotive structural components, sheet metal, and various fabrication techniques will be essential to ensure that vehicles are properly prepared for restoration or collision repair. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced automotive welding equipment, hand tools, and sanding tools while contributing to high-quality auto body repairs. Responsibilities Carefully dismantle vehicles by removing panels, trim, glass, and other components using hand tools and power tools. Utilize automotive welding equipment such as MIG welding and soldering techniques to assist in tear-down procedures when necessary. Perform heavy lifting safely to handle vehicle parts and assemblies during disassembly. Document vehicle condition and parts removed, ensuring accurate records for further repair or reassembly. Assist in fabricating or repairing sheet metal parts using fabrication repair techniques and automotive structural repair methods. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools including sanding tools and automotive body refinishing equipment are properly stored and maintained. Collaborate with team members on auto restoration projects, auto painting prep, and auto glass removal to streamline the tear-down process. Experience Previous dealership experience or hands-on work as an automotive body technician is highly preferred. Proficiency with MIG welding, soldering, and fabrication repair techniques is essential. Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems, parts installation, and automotive structural components. Experience working with sheet metal, automotive cosmetic repair, and auto restoration projects. Familiarity with auto body repair processes including auto painting, sanding tools, airless paint spraying, and detailing. Ability to operate various power tools safely and efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
