Responsibilities Perform auto body repairs including dent removal, sheet metal work, and structural repairs using welding repair techniques such as MIG welding and soldering. Utilize hand tools, power tools, sanding tools, and automotive welding equipment to restore vehicle frames and panels accurately. Conduct automotive cosmetic repairs including auto painting, auto body refinishing, and detailing to achieve a high-quality finish. Install automotive parts such as auto glass, bumpers, trim, and other components with precision. Apply fabrication repair techniques to create custom parts or modify existing components for optimal fit and function. Use automotive estimating skills to assess damage, prepare repair plans, and communicate effectively with customers regarding repairs needed. Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications while adhering to quality control procedures. Assist with vehicle maintenance tasks as needed, including auto restoration projects or general mechanical knowledge applications. Experience Proven experience working as an automotive body technician within a dealership or independent shop environment. Strong background in auto body repair, automotive structural repair, and sheet metal work. Hands-on experience with welding repair techniques such as MIG welding and soldering; familiarity with automotive welding equipment is essential. Knowledge of auto painting processes including airless paint spraying and automotive body refinishing methods. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, sanding tools, and other shop equipment necessary for detailed auto body work. Familiarity with auto estimating software and customer service practices related to automotive repairs. Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance, auto parts installation, auto glass replacement, and general automotive repair is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex repairs or restorations.
