Cox Automotive is seeking a Body Shop Prepper to support high-quality vehicle reconditioning in a fast-paced shop environment. In this role, you'll prepare vehicles for paint by sanding, masking, priming, and inspecting surfaces to ensure a flawless finish. You'll work closely with painters and body technicians, maintaining tools and equipment while following strict safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities Prepare vehicles for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming surfaces Inspect bodywork for defects and ensure proper surface preparation Mix and apply primers and sealers according to specifications Maintain tools, spray guns, and prep equipment in safe working condition Collaborate with painters and body technicians to meet quality and production goals Follow safety, environmental, and PPE standards in the body shop Document work performed and report any issues with materials or equipment Support continuous improvement and 5 S/lean practices in the shop Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members on job status Uphold Cox Automotive quality and customer satisfaction standards Required Skills Automotive body prep Sanding and masking Priming and sealing Surface defect identification Use of body shop tools and equipment Paint mixing basics Safety and PPE procedures Work order documentation Time management in production shop Basic collision repair knowledge
