Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Paint Prepper to join our dynamic automotive restoration and body shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing vehicles' surfaces to ensure flawless paint application and optimal finish quality. Your expertise in surface preparation, masking, sanding, and spray techniques will be essential in delivering outstanding results. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a passionate team dedicated to automotive excellence, utilizing advanced tools and techniques to restore vehicles to their prime condition. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong background in auto body repair and painting processes. Responsibilities Perform thorough surface preparation including sanding, grinding, and cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion. Mask off areas using surface preparation masking techniques to protect non-painted surfaces during spraying. Utilize conventional spray guns, airless paint sprayers, and automotive coating equipment to apply primers, paints, and clear coats with precision. Conduct auto body repairs such as dent removal, filler application, and minor panel adjustments prior to painting. Operate power tools including grinders, sanders, and buffing machines to achieve smooth surfaces ready for finishing. Assist with auto restoration projects by applying automotive buffing techniques and detailing for a high-quality finish. Follow safety protocols including proper use of respiratory protection and handling of paints and chemicals in compliance with OSHA standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a Paint Prepper or similar role within a dealership, auto body shop, or restoration environment. Strong knowledge of automotive surface preparation, masking techniques, sanding methods, and spray painting. Hands-on experience with welding, auto glass replacement, and auto body repair is highly desirable. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, grinders, buffing machines, and spray guns used in auto refinishing. Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and auto estimating processes is a plus. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for auto body refinishing projects. $23.06 - $27.77 per hour
