Job Description

Job Overview Audio Video Specialists (AVS) is looking for a motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented Automotive & Marine Audio / Customization Technician to join our team in Decatur, AL. The ideal candidate has a passion for vehicles, electronics, car audio, and customization. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works well with a team, and understands that professional installation is about more than simply getting the equipment to work — it is about proper installation, clean workmanship, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person who demonstrates mechanical ability, a willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic. Duties Install and remove automotive and marine audio equipment Install radios, head units, speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, DSPs, and related electronics Perform professional wiring, soldering, crimping, and electrical connections Properly route, secure, and protect wiring Diagnose and troubleshoot audio and electrical issues Perform amplifier gain, crossover, and system adjustments Install backup cameras, lighting, LED systems, and other vehicle electronics Assist with custom vehicle and marine installations Perform basic fabrication and panel modification when required Build and install subwoofer enclosures and custom audio systems Follow wiring diagrams, installation instructions, and manufacturer specifications Protect vehicle interiors, panels, seats, paint, and electronics during installation Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area Inspect completed installations for proper operation and quality Identify and correct installation issues before the vehicle leaves the shop Communicate professionally with coworkers and management Maintain shop tools and equipment Follow all shop safety procedures Complete installations efficiently while maintaining quality standards Qualifications Strong work ethic and dependable attendance Ability to learn and follow instructions Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude Attention to detail Ability to troubleshoot problems logically Ability to use hand and power tools safely Ability to work independently and as part of a team Professional attitude and appearance Pride in workmanship Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment Willingness to learn new products, vehicles, and installation techniques At AVS, we take pride in doing the job right the first time .
