Emergency Vehicle Installer Brooks Public Safety is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Emergency Vehicle Installers. This position is responsible for installing, servicing, testing, troubleshooting, and removing 12-volt aftermarket equipment used in law enforcement, fire, EMS, public safety, government, and commercial fleet vehicles. Our installers work with a wide variety of equipment and vehicle platforms. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who has strong mechanical or electrical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Primary Responsibilities Installation, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and removal of equipment including: Emergency lighting and light bars Sirens, speakers, and controllers Radios and communication equipment Video and camera systems Laptops, docking stations, and printers Vehicle consoles and equipment mounting systems Prisoner transport partitions and related equipment Antennas and cellular/Wi-Fi routers 12-volt electrical components and wiring Windshields and side glass Other aftermarket vehicle equipment and accessories Installers will also be responsible for routing and terminating wiring, identifying electrical circuits, mounting equipment, disassembling and reassembling vehicle interiors, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring completed installations meet Brooks Public Safety's quality standards. Minimum Qualifications Automotive, electrical, mechanical, or 12-volt experience preferred Two years of related experience is desired but not required Basic understanding of vehicle wiring and electrical circuits preferred Emergency vehicle lighting installation experience is a plus Ability to safely use hand and power tools Ability to follow wiring diagrams, instructions, and build specifications Strong attention to detail Good communication and teamwork skills Dependable, punctual, and prepared to work Ability to distinguish wiring colors and work with small components Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in confined areas of vehicles Willingness to learn new equipment, vehicles, and installation techniques Preferred Qualifications Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification Previous emergency vehicle upfitting experience Automotive or marine 12-volt electrical experience Auto glass installation experience Mechanical or automotive repair experience Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Strong problem-solving abilities Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship Training Previous emergency vehicle upfitting experience is not required for the right candidate.
