Automotive Mechanic Join the team at Alabama Auto Sales as an Automotive Mechanic and become an essential part of keeping our dealership's inventory safe, reliable, and ready for our customers. We are looking for a dependable, hands-on mechanic who can diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of vehicles in a fast-paced dealership environment. You will work on a wide range of vehicles and handle everything from routine maintenance to more involved mechanical repairs. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and taking pride in putting quality vehicles on the road. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid services, brake repairs, battery replacement, filters, belts, and other general maintenance . Diagnose and repair common vehicle issues involving engines, transmissions, cooling systems, suspension, steering, brakes, electrical systems, and A/C . Perform engine repairs and replacements, including diagnosing check-engine lights, overheating, starting issues, misfires, and other drivability concerns . Use diagnostic scanners and other automotive tools to identify mechanical and electrical problems. Install and maintain GPS tracking devices and other dealership equipment on vehicles. Perform thorough inspections on incoming inventory and identify necessary repairs before vehicles are sold or placed into service. Test-drive vehicles when necessary to diagnose problems and verify completed repairs. Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety. Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and work completed. Communicate with management regarding vehicle condition, needed repairs, parts, and estimated completion times. Help keep the shop, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe. Work efficiently during busy periods when multiple vehicles require service at the same time. Assist with preparing vehicles for sale by ensuring they are mechanically sound, dependable, and customer-ready. Perform other general automotive maintenance and repair duties as needed. Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as an automotive mechanic, technician, or in a similar hands-on automotive position . Strong knowledge of general vehicle maintenance and repair. Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues. Experience working on engines, brakes, suspension, cooling systems, A/C, and electrical systems. Comfortable using OBD/diagnostic scanners, multimeters, lifts, hand tools, and power tools . Ability to install GPS tracking equipment properly and safely. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify problems before they become larger issues. Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with the dealership team. Must be dependable, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment . Ability to safely operate vehicles and dealership/shop equipment. A valid driver's license is not necessary, but prefered.
