POSITION OVERVIEW
Quantum Industries is seeking a hands-on Fleet & Equipment Shop Manager / Lead Mechanic to help oversee our company shop, rolling fleet, equipment, and tool-tracking systems. This position requires an experienced mechanical professional who can manage daily shop operations while completing maintenance, repairs, welding, fabrication, troubleshooting, and equipment inspections. The right candidate will have advanced mechanical skills and experience working with service trucks, fleet vehicles, trailers, equipment, tools, and asset-tracking technology. This person must be organized, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership of both physical equipment and the records connected to it. DUTIES ⚡️ Manage the maintenance and repair of company trucks, trailers, fleet vehicles, and equipment ⚡️ Develop and maintain preventive maintenance and inspection schedules ⚡️ Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and equipment-related problems ⚡️ Complete repairs in-house when appropriate ⚡️ Coordinate outside repairs, service appointments, parts, and vendors when needed ⚡️ Perform welding, fabrication, equipment modifications, and general shop repairs ⚡️ Inspect vehicles and equipment before deployment ⚡️ Maintain accurate service histories, repair records, inspection reports, and maintenance schedules ⚡️ Monitor vehicle and equipment condition, mileage, hours, and service needs ⚡️ Help manage the daily organization and operation of the company shop ⚡️ Maintain an inventory of tools assigned to company trucks and employees ⚡️ Manage the check-in and check-out process for tools and equipment ⚡️ Conduct tool and equipment audits to identify missing, damaged, or unreturned assets ⚡️ Confirm that GPS tracking devices and asset tags remain installed, active, and reporting location data ⚡️ Investigate missing location data, tracking interruptions, or unaccounted-for equipment ⚡️ Order replacement tools, parts, shop supplies, and maintenance materials ⚡️ Maintain an organized, functional, and well-stocked shop ⚡️ Establish accountability procedures for fleet vehicles, equipment, and company-owned tools ⚡️ Communicate maintenance needs, equipment concerns, and fleet status to company leadership
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
⚡️ Advanced mechanical knowledge and hands-on repair experience ⚡️ Experience maintaining commercial trucks, fleet vehicles, trailers, or construction equipment ⚡️ Welding and metal fabrication skills ⚡️ Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, welding equipment, and shop machinery ⚡️ Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and equipment problems ⚡️ Experience managing maintenance schedules, service records, parts, and inventory ⚡️ Strong organizational and documentation skills ⚡️ Ability to use GPS tracking, digital inventory, or fleet-management systems ⚡️ Ability to work independently and prioritize urgent repair needs ⚡️ Valid driver's license
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
⚡️ Previous experience managing or helping manage a fleet, truck shop, equipment yard, or commercial repair facility ⚡️ Experience supporting construction, utility, industrial, oil and gas, or electrical field operations ⚡️ Experience managing tool assignments and asset-tracking programs ⚡️ Experience working with service trucks, utility vehicles, trailers, and field equipment ⚡️ Commercial driver's license or experience operating commercial vehicles

The ideal candidate is a working shop leader and advanced mechanic who can move between repairs, welding, fleet planning, tool control, GPS tracking, recordkeeping, and vendor coordination. This person notices problems before equipment reaches the field. They understand that reliable vehicles, complete tool inventories, and accurate location data directly affect the productivity of every crew.
