Job Summary:
The Fleet Truck Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a fleet of over 200 trucks and trailers to ensure they are in safe and optimal working condition. This hands-on role involves working on both diesel units and trailers, including diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on company trucks and trailers, diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and aftertreatment issues.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools (e.g., OBD II, PC-based systems) to troubleshoot and repair diesel units.
  • Service and repair diesel engine components, including ECU/ECM systems, and aftertreatment systems like the DPF.
  • Maintain working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, emissions, turbochargers, fuel systems, and aftertreatment technologies.
  • Ensure aftertreatment systems, including the DPF, are properly cleaned, repaired, or replaced as needed to meet emissions standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Support training efforts and help prioritize work to ensure efficient shop operations.
  • Monitor performance, promote safety, and help uphold quality standards.
  • Communicate clearly with operations staff, drivers, and management.
  • Order and manage parts inventory as needed to support repair timelines.
  • Perform on-road repairs as needed.
  • Responsibilities and tasks outlined are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the company.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in fleet truck repair and maintenance, with expertise in diesel engines.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, including electric and computer-controlled systems.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience working with diesel aftertreatment systems, such as DPF, DOC, and SCR.
  • Understanding of current and pending government regulations (DOT/FMCSA, OSHA).
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a shop setting and outdoor environments. Requires lifting heavy equipment and parts, standing for long periods, and working in varying weather conditions.
