Duties Conduct thorough smog tests on standard passenger vehicles using specialized diagnostic equipment and adhere to all regulatory standards. Perform vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues that could affect emissions performance. Use hand tools and power tools to assist with vehicle repairs or adjustments necessary for successful emissions testing. Assist customers by explaining test procedures, results, and recommended next steps with clear communication and excellent customer service skills. Maintain detailed records of each test, including auto estimating for repairs or adjustments needed post-inspection. Conduct vehicle maintenance tasks such as tire changes, basic repairs, or electrical system checks when necessary. Ensure all safety protocols are followed during testing procedures, including heavy lifting and proper handling of automotive parts and accessories. Requirements Proven experience working with standard passenger cars in an automotive repair or inspection setting. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems, electrical systems, and automotive parts. Familiarity with automotive tire changes, vehicle maintenance, and the use of hand tools and power tools. Knowledge of automotive electrical systems, mechanical systems repair, and automotive parts/accessories. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical information to clients. Experience with auto estimating software and vehicle inspections is preferred but not required. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during vehicle servicing tasks.
