Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The fleet maintenance/CDL support performs general and preventative maintenance on and diagnoses and repairs heavy duty diesel trucks, trailers, and related equipment for use in the Commercial Transportation department. He or she may also assist with various aspects of fleet maintenance and commercial truck driving classes. Location Main Campus Type of Position Technical/Para-Professional Full-Time/Part-Time Part Time Terms of Employment Contracted Term Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of and the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical diesel and heavy-truck mechanics and systems. Preferred Qualifications Associate Degree in an automotive-related field. 2+ years of experience working on heavy duty diesel trucks, trailers, and/or commercial equipment. Essential Duties- Diagnose and repair heavy duty diesel trucks, trailers, and similar equipment.
Ex:
changing and adjusting brakes, changing tires, adjusting clutches, AC repairs, etc.)- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance, including the use of diagnostic software.
- Maintain proper shop safety and organization.
- Respond to and provide support for unexpected mechanic issues (such as breakdowns on the road).
- Maintain on-call availability as needed.
