Experienced Service Advisor Glenn's Auto Service Downey, CA $80,000 to $100,000 ( Including weekly / monthly bonuses) Monday through Friday - 8am - 5pm (No Weekends)
About The Shop:
At Glenn's Auto Service, a good day is when the team goes home knowing the customers were treated honestly, the right work was recommended, and nobody had to cut corners to hit a number. Glenn's has been serving the community since 1954. The basic idea behind the business has stayed remarkably consistent over the years: take care of people, explain what their vehicle actually needs, and do work you can stand behind. The owner works alongside everyone rather than managing from a distance. Ideas are welcome. Problems are discussed directly. The team gets together for daily huddles, and mistakes or comebacks are treated as opportunities to figure out what happened and improve rather than opportunities to point fingers. This is a small, professional shop where people know each other, help each other, and are expected to pull in the same direction. We're looking for an experienced Service Advisor who works the same way. The right person is friendly when someone walks through the door, calm when the day gets hectic, organized enough to keep promises from falling through the cracks, and confident enough to present everything a vehicle needs without turning the conversation into a hard sell. Glenn's places especially high value on an advisor who can build lasting customer trust and model that skill for others.
Pay, Schedule & Benefits:
$80,000 to $100,000 (Including weekly and monthly bonuses) Compensation includes performance opportunities through weekly sales bonuses and monthly bonuses tied to sales, average repair order, and parts gross profit. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, built around a true 40-hour workweek. Overtime is uncommon and requires approval. You'll also receive: Two medical and dental plan options, with Glenn's covering 50% of the standard plan
SIMPLE IRA
with company contributions Eight paid holidays after the 60-day introductory period One week of vacation after one year Two weeks of vacation after three years An additional paid week off during the holiday season each year Advisor clothing provided Shop-funded continuing education Annual pay reviews Individual performance bonuses Quarterly team rewards, which can include outings such as fishing, go-karts, pool, or a team lunch Family life matters here too. School events, emergencies, and the things that come up outside of work are treated like real life, not inconveniences.
What You'll Be Doing:
Glenn's has a loyal customer base that values quality and trust more than getting the cheapest repair in town. That means the advisor has time to actually advise. You'll listen to what brought the customer in, make sure their concerns are documented clearly, work with the technician to understand what was found, and then explain the recommendations in a way that makes sense. Sometimes that means helping someone understand why one repair should happen today and another can wait. Sometimes it means explaining why two estimates aren't really apples to apples. Sometimes it means calming down a customer who came through the door frustrated and making sure they leave feeling heard. And sometimes it simply means remembering their name and making them feel welcome. The advisor Glenn's is looking for should already be comfortable handling price objections, explaining technical findings, setting expectations, following up on declined work, building estimates and repair orders, monitoring parts, and navigating difficult customer conversations. This is a sales position, and performance matters. The difference is how the sale happens. Glenn's believes customers should be given the complete picture and allowed to make an informed decision. The goal is not to decide what someone can afford before presenting the work, nor is it to scare someone into saying yes. Inspect everything. Estimate everything. Present everything. Educate the customer. Let them decide.
What We Do:
The shop primarily works on domestic and Japanese vehicles and currently averages around four vehicles per day. The focus is on inspecting thoroughly, presenting clearly, and completing quality work rather than rushing vehicles through the building.
The advisor works with:
Mitchell shop-management software Bolton digital vehicle inspections Tablets for inspection and communication Matco MaxiSys diagnostic equipment Snap-on Triton diagnostic equipment Every vehicle receives a digital inspection, and the shop follows the 300%
Rule:
inspect 100%, estimate 100%, present 100% . Strong organization, follow-through, communication, and accurate BAR documentation are non-negotiable parts of the role. The facility has four indoor lifts and one heavy-duty lift outside. The office is air-conditioned, and there is an upstairs break room with a TV, couch, massage chair, snacks, and drinks. The shop is also continuing to invest in the facility and equipment, including plans for updated tire equipment, an R-1234yf A/C machine, and improvements to the office and customer lounge.
Training & Growth:
Automotive keeps changing, and Glenn's does not expect someone to stop learning once they're hired. The shop supports continuing education and can fund relevant training and certifications. Local evening and Saturday classes are available, along with industry events such as STX and ASCCA. The long-term path can also grow beyond the advisor desk. For the right person, there is potential to develop toward an office management role as the business continues to grow.
What You Bring:
We're looking for an experienced automotive Service Advisor, ideally someone with 3 to 5+ years of experience in an independent repair shop or a similar customer-focused environment.
You should be comfortable with:
Building accurate estimates and repair orders Explaining repairs in plain language Handling price objections professionally Setting realistic expectations for cost and timing Following up on declined work Tracking and ordering parts Working with shop-management software Using digital vehicle inspections Handling warranty work Understanding labor times and estimate structure Staying organized when several customers need attention at once Having difficult conversations without becoming defensive or confrontational Following through when you tell a customer or teammate you'll do something Excellent communication, organization, accountability, and honesty are essential. Good typing skills, spreadsheet experience, ASE certifications, and formal service advisor training are helpful but not required. You enjoy knowing your customers instead of treating them like RO numbers. You like working with technicians instead of against them. You can sell confidently without making people feel pressured. You appreciate an owner who is involved in the day-to-day business and willing to listen when you have an idea. Interested? If you're looking for a Monday through Friday shop where honesty, follow-through, and doing the right thing still carry real weight, Glenn's Auto Service may feel less like starting another job and more like finding the shop you've been looking for. Contact hiring@autoignitemanagement.com . Please do not contact the shop directly as they have partnered with Auto Ignite Management to handle the initial hiring process. Thank you!
