Job Description
The

® Companies of Northern California, the leading producer of packaged concrete and related products, has an immediate opening for a Truck and Trailer Mechanic at our Fremont, CA plant.BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for servicing all company trucks, trailers, vehicles, forklifts, and loader equipment and tools in a professional, timely, safe and cost-effective manner. Respects the authority of Management, and performs assigned responsibilities to ensure completion in as a professional, timely, safe and cost effective manner as possible. Maintain and guarantee company safety standards.QUALIFICATIONS
three years mechanic experience. Valid driver's license. Proven ability to operate and maintain company trucks and equipment (trucks, trailers. Bulk trailers, forklift, etc.) conducive to performing job responsibilities, conforming to company personnel and safety procedures and policies. Must be a "competent" person in safety regulations. Physical stamina includes the following frequency of task: Operating and maintaining all company vehicles. Lift up to 100 lbs. utilizing safe and proper lifting techniques and equipment. Safely climb in and out of vehicles, Work well under pressure meeting project schedules and budget guidelines, Employee must understand the importance of wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include: Safety glasses always except when driving motorized vehicles/trucks, entering the employee break room, and entering the office Must wear hard hats when working in areas that present overhead hazards, CONDITIONOF EMPLOYMENT
Employee is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference check, skill assessment testing, drug/alcohol and medical evaluation.RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide service, quality, safety and professional (punctuality, reliability, language, personal hygiene, clothing, etc.) standards. Promote and apply company work ethic, quality and safety standards. Assist Management by inspecting and servicing all company trucks, equipment and tools to ensure quality and safety standards. Perform set-up, operate machinery, vehicles, equipment and tools (trucks, misc. hand tools, etc.) necessary to ensure completion of quality work. Direct company inquiries and concerns to Plant and Regional Managers (i.e., mechanical/equipment deficiencies, supplies, etc.) Ensure that all paperwork is completed and signed, inspection reports, in an accurate and timely manner, and that it complies with company standards, and is legally sound. Attend required safety and production meetings with Plant Manager and/or Safety for planning and organizing current and future servicing schedules, and work site safety policies and procedures. Attend all company sponsored training events, including required re-certification and/or education requirements targeted for continuing personal growth and development. Personally adhere to and be an example by conforming to the company's Injury Prevention Program and manufacturer's operation guidelines. Become proficient and "competent" in areas of equipment, vehicles and tool repair. Utilize safety procedures to include, defensive driving, vehicle and equipment maintenance and up-keep; technical training, lockout/tagout, confines space, accident injury, Hazcom, emergency exit, personal protective, lifting, tool safety, etc. Attend safety-training talks and assist management in promoting awareness, respect and teamwork by serving the committee on a rotating basis, in a non-adversarial, cooperative effort to promote safety at each work site. Responsible for equipment, tools, and supplies as follows: Be responsible for assigned company tools and equipment. Organize equipment, tools, and supplies daily. Perform required paperwork, inspections and schedule required cleaning and maintenance of company trucks, equipment, and tools (servicing and repairs to include routine oil, BIT inspections, grease and tire checks, etc.) to ensure that equipment is in safe working condition. Acquire the supplies needed through Plant Manager or Safety Manager to perform your job promptly, accurately, safely and professionally. Report to Manager of any failure to adhere to OSHA, DOT and /or company's professional standards. Report to Management any deviation from scheduling or budget guidelines that may become potential liabilities or driver complaints.RELATIONSHIPS
Cooperates with the Plant Manager, General Manager, Safety, Dispatch Personnel, and all employees within the company. Accountable to General Manager for proper interpretation and fulfillment of responsibilities.METHOD OF MEASUREMENT
Completion of all responsibilities as listed above in a timely, safe, ethical and organized manner. Accurate, timely and complete documentation maintained at all times. Effective utilization of all available resources. Proven ability to repair and operate company vehicles, equipment, and tools in a safe and professional manner (periodic BIT inspections). Supervisor, employee, management and customer satisfaction and quality of product. Continues professional/personal growth and development.
