Job Description

Amador Valley Industries , a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety conscious Heavy Truck Mechanic to join the team in Livermore, CA! Previous waste experience would be a huge plus ! The shift will be Monday - Friday plus every other Saturday 1pm-9:30pm . This is a union position with a pension plan, plus fully paid benefits (medical, dental, vision) for employees + dependents. The pay range for this job category is fixed at $57.37/hour.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform engine, transmission and hydraulic pump overhauls. Read wire schematics and perform electrical troubleshooting. Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs. Collaborate with other diesel mechanics Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment. Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns. Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
WORK CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds. Back, leg, arm and shoulder strength required to safely climb in, on and around vehicles to inspect and repair. Ability to work in awkward, tight, or restricted spaces for extended periods of time; Requires the ability to sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and be able to get up and down from a supine position. Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts which require following basic safety precautions. The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years of experience of troubleshooting and electrical work on diesel or natural gas trucks. Specialize in Cummins and Paccar engines or similar. Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License is preferred. Clean driving record required. Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
