Pay Range:
$26.91-$36.80 Hourly We're hiring a Fleet Lube Technician with an interest in learning how to build, equip, and maintain Police Department vehicles . This hands-on position provides an opportunity to develop specialized skills while performing preventive maintenance and supporting the Police fleet. If you have automotive experience, enjoy working with vehicles, and are eager to learn something new, we'd encourage you to apply! Essential Job Functions Inspects vehicles to determine need for changing oils and filters and provide feedback to customers. Performs oil checks on transmissions and ensures they are brought up to the required levels. Greases bearings, examines repairs and overhauls brake systems according to set standards. Locates and corrects malfunctions such as wheel bearings issues and ignition problems by using dedicated electronic tools. Tunes automobile engines to ensure that they function efficiently and handles repairs and maintenance on service components including air conditioners and condensers. Removes and replaces vehicle leaf springs, tail pipes and mufflers. Ascertains that tire pressure is properly maintained and handle tire rotation and installation duties. Installs new oil filters and drain plugs. Ensures that old ones can still be used and are properly cleaned and maintained. Cleans and lubricate fittings and refill fluid levels. Handles battery replacement and recharging activities and ensure that old batteries are properly disposed off. Frequently operates a personal or City-owned motor vehicle to drive to and from work locations throughout the City. Other Job Functions Performs other duties as required. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Solid knowledge of motor vehicles. Basic computer skills. High level of safety consciousness. Ability to work in a law enforcement facility. Ability to prioritize and organize time. Ability to read and understand SDS sheets on chemicals and fluids. Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. License & Certification Forklift Operator Certification. A valid Colorado driver's license and acceptable driving record is required. Education Degree High School/GED Education Required Yes Work Experience Related Automotive preventative maintenance experience. Work Experience Preferred Formal automotive training. Other Qualifications Must pass a criminal background check and a driving record check, if required by the position. Physical Demands Moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs.) and use of medium weight tools. Hazards Occasional hazards that are predictable or well protected against (Hazardous waste, ladders, cleaning supplies, trips and falls). Work Environment Exposure to loud noise indoors.
