Full Job Description Trailer Fabrication & Fleet Maintenance Technician Pay Range:
$25-$30/hour

Colorado Springs, CO Position Summary The Trailer Fabrication & Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing aluminum welding and fabrication work on trailer racks, railings, and related trailer components while also assisting with commercial vehicle brake and maintenance repairs. Approximately 70% of the role involves welding and fabrication, with the remaining duties focused on fleet maintenance and DOT-related repairs. Key Responsibilities Perform aluminum welding and fabrication on trailer racks, railings, platforms, and trailer components Repair cracked, damaged, or worn aluminum structures on flatbed and over-the-road trailers Fabricate custom brackets, supports, and trailer accessories as needed Perform brake repairs and maintenance on semi-trucks and trailers, including air brake systems Assist with preventative maintenance and general mechanical repairs Inspect trailers and equipment for structural and mechanical issues Maintain accurate repair records and communicate equipment needs to management Assist with parts ordering and inventory tracking when needed Operate welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively Support DOT compliance by ensuring trailers and equipment remain roadworthy and safe Qualifications Proven experience with aluminum welding and fabrication Ability to read measurements, fabricate parts, and complete quality welds Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred but not required) Skills & Competencies Strong welding and fabrication abilities Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks Strong communication and teamwork skills Work Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily shop and yard environment with exposure to weather and typical fabrication shop conditions Frequent lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, and use of power tools and welding equipment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly Preferred Experience MIG aluminum welding experience Experience repairing flatbed trailer accessories, racks, and rail systems Familiarity with preventative fleet maintenance programs Forklift or equipment operation experience a plus Expected skills to learn and develop Attending classes and learning to work with trailer brake systems, eventually having a minimum of 2 years of experience with air brake systems Working with semi-trucks, flatbed trailers, and commercial fleet equipment Basic understanding of DOT inspection and maintenance requirements Trained to perform hands-on mechanical repairs and troubleshooting Stresscon Corporation is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer and a Drug-Free Workplace.
