Job Description

Automotive Technician
  • All Makes & Models Mountain Family Automotive | Evergreen, CO | Full-Time | flagged hour We're looking for a good technician. If that's you, keep reading
  • we think you'll like it here.
Mountain Family Automotive is an independent, owner-operated shop in Evergreen. We're not a chain, not a dealership, and not a flip-the-hood-and-sell-it shop.
We win on trust:
we never sell work a customer doesn't need, we explain things in plain language, and we do what we say we'll do. That's easier on you, too
  • you're not being asked to pad a ticket to hit a number.
Our customers live at 7,200 feet and drive mountain roads year round. The work is real and it's varied: road salt and rust, hard-worked 4WD and AWD drivetrains, brake and cooling systems that get punished on the grades, towing packages, and a steady stream of vehicles that somebody else already guessed at. If you like actually figuring things out, you won't be bored here. The Role You'll see the full range
  • maintenance and brakes through drivability and electrical diagnosis.
How much of the hard diagnostic work lands in your bay depends on what you're ready for, and we'll be straight with you about that from day one. If you're already there, it's yours. If you're climbing, we'll get you there and pay for the training. We run Tekmetric, digital vehicle inspections, and factory-level service information and scan tool access. Parts get ordered right, quality parts, so you're not fighting the same job twice. Your service advisor sells your diagnosis instead of second-guessing it. What "All Makes and Models" Means Here In a given week, expect to move between: Domestic light truck and SUV
  • Ford, GM, Ram
  • with heavy 4WD and towing duty Asian
  • Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia
  • Subaru volume well above the national average European
  • BMW, Audi/VW, Mercedes, Volvo. You don't need to be a German specialist. You need to be willing to pull the diagram and work it Light diesel here and there
  • Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins.
It's not the bulk of what we do, and prior diesel experience is a plus, not a requirement Hybrids and the occasional EV, handled safely with proper high-voltage procedure Nobody has every platform memorized. What we care about is that you can pick up an unfamiliar vehicle, get into the service information, read the data, and work toward the right answer instead of guessing at parts. What We're Looking For You'd rather test than guess. You reach for a diagram and a meter before you reach for a part. You do it right. You'd rather take the extra twenty minutes than see the car come back. You document. Concern, cause, correction
  • enough that the advisor can sell it and the customer understands it.
You're curious. You've learned something new recently, or you've been wanting to and nobody's been paying for it. You're easy to work with. You get along with the front counter, you don't blow up when a job goes sideways, and you help the newer guy instead of guarding what you know. Requirements 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience Comfortable across multiple makes
  • domestic and Asian at minimum, with a willingness to take on European Solid with a scan tool and a multimeter.
Scope experience is a plus; if you don't have it, we'll teach you Your own hand tools and rolling toolbox in working order Valid driver's license and clean MVR Authorized to work in the U.S. Offer contingent on background check and MVR Comfortable working at altitude and in winter mountain conditions Strong pluses, not requirements: ASE certifications (any of A1-A8, L1, or Colorado emissions inspector license), OEM factory training, light diesel experience, ADAS calibration, hybrid/EV training, or experience mentoring other techs. Not ASE certified yet? We pay for the testing. If you're a good tech without the papers, apply anyway. #hc264496
