In this role, you will work directly alongside our Service Manager to manage daily front-end operations, streamline workflow, and deliver an exceptional customer experience. Our service department operates with a tight-knit, fast paced structure consisting of two front-end professionals (Service Manager and Service Advisor) and a dedicated back-end team composed of a Master Tech, A-Level Tech, and an Apprentice. This position is designed to carry front-counter workload, optimize shop flow, and drive sales through comprehensive inspection presentations and clear client communication.
Greet customers promptly, actively listen to vehicle symptoms and/or requests, accurately document concerns on repair orders, and set realistic completion expectations.
Workload & Workflow Support:
Collaborate closely with the Service Manager to dispatch work appropriately between our A-Level Technicians and Apprentice, ensuring even bay utilization and minimal shop bottlenecks.
Estimate Building & Sales Presentation:
Translate technician multi-point inspections into clear, prioritized customer estimates; explain complex mechanical needs in approachable terms to secure authorized work.
Production Goals:
Actively drive repair order value to meet department benchmarks (averaging 2-3 hours per ticket and 3-5 vehicles per technician daily).
Parts & Timeline Coordination:
Partner with parts vendors and the Service Manager to confirm parts availability, track arrivals, and provide proactive updates to waiting customers.
Active Delivery & Follow-up:
Review completed work and invoices with customers upon vehicle pickup, explain warranties, collect payments, and conduct post-service satisfaction follow-ups. Qualifications & Skills Previous experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Writer, or Assistant Manager preferred, though candidates with strong automotive parts or customer service backgrounds will be considered. Solid baseline understanding of automotive systems, routine maintenance schedules, and diagnostic workflows. Familiarity with shop management software (e.g., Shop-Ware, Mitchell 1, Protractor, Tekmetric, or similar) and digital vehicle inspection (DVI) tools.
