About the Position This position is responsible for inspecting and reconditioning used vehicles to dealership standards and ensuring every vehicle is mechanically safe, reliable, and ready for sale. The ideal candidate is efficient, detail-oriented, and takes pride in producing quality work while maintaining a strong pace in a high-volume environment. A minimum of 3 years of automotive technician experience is required for this position. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive mechanical inspections on used vehicles. Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical concerns identified during the reconditioning process. Perform brake repairs and replacements, including pads, rotors, calipers, and related components. Perform suspension and steering repairs. Complete tire inspections, rotations, repairs, and replacements. Perform oil and filter changes and other routine maintenance. Replace batteries and perform battery/charging system testing. Perform fluid services and fluid leak inspections. Complete belts, hoses, filters, bulbs, wipers, and other maintenance repairs. Perform basic and advanced diagnostic testing using appropriate scan tools and equipment. Inspect vehicles for safety, drivability, and overall mechanical condition. Identify additional repairs needed to bring vehicles up to dealership retail standards. Perform recalls and manufacturer-required repairs when applicable. Complete repair orders accurately and document all work performed. Complete vehicle inspections and document measurements as required. Work closely with the Used Car Manager, Service Advisors, and Recon team to prioritize vehicles and repairs. Maintain efficient turnaround times to move vehicles through the reconditioning process. Properly road-test vehicles when required to verify repairs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Properly use lifts, diagnostic equipment, specialty tools, and shop equipment. Follow all dealership, Ford, OSHA, and manufacturer safety procedures. Maintain a high level of workmanship and ensure repairs are completed correctly the first time. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive technician experience required. Previous dealership or used-car reconditioning experience strongly preferred. Ford experience or Ford training is a plus. Experience diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicle makes and models. Strong understanding of automotive mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to efficiently diagnose problems and complete repairs. Ability to safely operate automotive lifts and shop equipment. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. ASE certifications are a plus. Automotive technical school or equivalent experience preferred. Dealertrack and/or Xtime experience is a plus.
