We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality work, can diagnose and repair a variety of automotive concerns, communicates clearly, and treats customer vehicles with care. This is a hands-on position in a small automotive repair shop where reliability, workmanship, safety, and teamwork matter. This position provides an hourly base wage plus commission, giving technicians dependable hourly compensation with additional earning opportunity based on qualifying work performed.
Compensation & Schedule:
$18.00 per hour base pay 5% commission on qualifying gross sales for vehicles you work on Weekly pay Full-time, on-site position Approximately 40 hours per week / 5 days per week Overtime paid as required by law Non-exempt/hourly position 90-day introductory period What You'll Do As an Automotive Technician, responsibilities include: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, drivability, maintenance, and other vehicle concerns within your training and experience. Perform vehicle inspections, maintenance, repairs, and automotive component replacement. Accurately identify needed repairs and communicate findings to management. Complete assigned repair orders thoroughly and accurately. Document diagnostic findings, work performed, parts used, recommendations, and other required repair information. Perform quality-control and verification checks before vehicles are returned to customers. Perform authorized test drives when necessary for diagnosis or repair verification. Follow manufacturer specifications, accepted repair practices, safety requirements, and Killebrew Auto procedures. Notify management when additional repairs, unexpected conditions, safety concerns, or delays are discovered. Properly use and care for vehicle lifts, diagnostic equipment, shop equipment, tools, and other company property. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Treat customer vehicles and property carefully and professionally. Work cooperatively with management, other technicians, customers, vendors, and other team members. Complete required paid safety, compliance, workplace, policy, and company training. When Vehicle Work Is Temporarily Unavailable When assigned automotive work has been completed or customer vehicles are temporarily unavailable, technicians remain on the clock and may be assigned other reasonable shop or operational duties, including: Cleaning and organizing shop, work, storage, or equipment areas Basic property or grounds upkeep Power washing or general property maintenance Lot maintenance Approved company marketing support Other reasonable shop or operational tasks These duties are paid working time at the employee's applicable hourly rate . Qualifications A strong candidate will have: Professional hands-on automotive repair experience Strong mechanical and troubleshooting ability Experience diagnosing and repairing a variety of vehicle systems Ability to work independently and recognize when assistance is needed Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing repairs correctly Ability to clearly communicate diagnostic findings and recommendations Ability to accurately document work performed Reliable attendance and punctuality Professional communication with customers, coworkers, vendors, and management A safety-conscious approach to vehicles, lifts, tools, and shop equipment A valid driver's license Driving eligibility sufficient to perform the vehicle-operation duties of the position and meet applicable company/insurance requirements Customary personal automotive technician hand tools Willingness to complete required paid company training Preferred Experience Experience in the following areas is especially valuable: Automotive diagnostics Electrical diagnosis and repair Drivability concerns General mechanical repair Preventive maintenance Transmission and drivetrain diagnosis or repair Performing repairs from initial diagnosis through final verification Independent automotive repair shop experience ASE or other automotive certifications are welcome but are not required unless otherwise specified for a particular assignment. Tools & Equipment Technicians are expected to have the customary personal hand tools normally used to perform automotive repair work. Killebrew Auto provides specialty tools, shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, and other company equipment management determines is necessary for assigned work. Applicants are not required to purchase tools, training, background screening, or other hiring services from Killebrew Auto. Safety & Quality Standards Technicians are expected to: Perform only authorized work Follow approved repair procedures and specifications Verify repairs when reasonably possible Report mistakes, damaged components, unsafe equipment, or unexpected problems Obtain authorization before performing additional repairs Properly operate lifts, tools, and equipment Report unsafe or hazardous conditions Protect customer and company property Maintain accurate repair records Ask for assistance when a task is outside their training or experience Pre-Employment Requirements Candidates who move forward in the hiring process may receive a conditional offer of employment subject to Killebrew Auto's standard job-related pre-employment screening process , which may include: Background screening Motor Vehicle Record review Pre-employment drug screening Any required screening will be conducted with appropriate authorization and in accordance with applicable law and company policy.
