Palm City, FL Earning Potential:
$85,000 to $130,000+ annually Highway Tire and Auto is looking for an experienced Lead Automotive Technician who can handle complex work, set the pace in the shop, and help raise the standard for the technicians around them. This is not just a position for someone who can diagnose and repair vehicles. We want to work with someone who takes ownership, communicates well, documents thoroughly, and is willing to help others improve without needing a formal management title to do it. We have been serving the Palm City community for more than 34 years. The shop is family-owned, recently remodeled, and positioned for significant growth. We have 14 bays, 9 lifts, a loyal customer base, strong fleet relationships, and the ability to work on a wide range of vehicles. What You Can Expect Here We believe family comes first, integrity matters, and mistakes should be owned and corrected. The shop moves quickly, but speed is not an excuse for poor workmanship or poor communication. We expect honest recommendations, thorough documentation, respect for teammates, and a willingness to keep improving. Ideas are encouraged, feedback is welcomed, and employees are given room to take ownership of their work. We are building toward a stronger, more structured shop with better systems, more training, and clear opportunities for growth. The technician who steps into this role will have a real chance to influence how that next chapter looks. What You Will Be Doing You will work alongside an experienced team in a fast-paced, collaborative shop that services domestic, Asian, European, light-duty diesel, and heavy-duty diesel vehicles. On any given week, you may see an antique, a European performance car, a muscle car, a daily driver, or a commercial fleet vehicle.
Your responsibilities will include:
Diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical concerns Finding the root cause of a problem, not just addressing the symptom Completing advanced testing and troubleshooting Performing accurate, efficient repairs across a wide range of makes and models Reviewing technician findings and helping when a second opinion is needed Supporting less experienced technicians as they develop Setting the standard for documentation, quality, and follow-through Communicating clearly with advisors about findings, timelines, and repair needs Following specifications, procedures, and quality-control expectations Helping identify process improvements, training needs, and equipment needs Taking ownership of mistakes and helping prevent repeat issues Protecting the shop's reputation, equipment, resources, and customer trust We use Tekmetric for shop management and digital vehicle inspections. The shop provides access to Autel, Snap-on, and TopDon scan tools. What We Are Looking For You are experienced, self-directed, and confident enough to solve difficult problems without acting like you have nothing left to learn. You take pride in being the technician others can rely on when a vehicle is not straightforward. You also understand that being a lead technician means more than producing hours. It means setting an example in how you work, communicate, and respond when something goes wrong. We are looking for someone who: Is highly skilled in testing and troubleshooting Can solve complex mechanical and electrical problems Works with urgency without sacrificing accuracy Documents findings and repairs clearly Communicates well with advisors and other technicians Is reliable, adaptable, and accountable Can coach or guide another technician without talking down to them Accepts feedback and continues learning Takes care of tools, equipment, and the work environment Understands that quality is non-negotiable Leads through consistency, work ethic, and character Experience and Qualifications Preferred qualifications include: At least five years of professional automotive repair experience Strong all-around diagnostic and repair ability ASE Master Technician certification, A1 through A8, preferred not required EPA 609 certification Experience with modern scan tools and vehicle technology Your own professional tool set Valid driver's license and clean driving record Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Compensation and Benefits Realistic annual earning potential is $85,000 to $130,000, based on experience, production, and performance. Compensation may be structured as flat rate or a hybrid plan depending on experience and preference Pay is reviewed after the first 90 days and annually after that. Schedule Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday, 7:45 AM to 1:00 PM The schedule is designed to provide fewer total working hours than many competing shops while still offering strong earning potential. Benefits and Perks Paid time off accrued at one hour per 40 hours worked, beginning in the first year, up to 10 days Six paid holidays Health Benefits available through Globe Life Tool allowance Gym membership Access to a dietitian Continuing education opportunities Certification reimbursement after passing Company-provided and laundered uniforms Local and online training opportunities Industry events and networking opportunities Team events, holiday dinners, community involvement, and an annual car show Direct access to ownership and an open-door approach to feedback Opportunity to grow into a larger leadership role as the shop expands If you are the person others turn to when the problem is difficult, and you are ready to lead through the quality of your work, we would like to hear from you.
