Job Title:
Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on maintaining and repairing truck beds, construction equipment, and customer-owned equipment. You will use your small engine and welding expertise, particularly MIG welding on truck beds, to perform a variety of mechanical repairs. The position offers a high level of independence, and you will be expected to organize and manage your own day while ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for use. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repair on trucks to ensure safe and reliable operation. Service and repair construction rental equipment, addressing mechanical issues and performing preventative maintenance. Diagnose and repair customer equipment, including small engines and automotive components. Complete MIG welding work on truck beds and other equipment as needed, following appropriate safety and quality standards. Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams to guide repair and fabrication work. Troubleshoot mechanical problems efficiently and determine appropriate repair solutions. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in small engine maintenance and repair. Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting on trucks and equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with a variety of tools and equipment. Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks without constant supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1 or more years of experience in the construction industry is preferred but not required. Experience working on construction rental equipment is a plus. Comfort performing MIG welding on truck beds and similar applications. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a busy shop environment. Why Work Here? The dress code requires jeans, steel-toe footwear, and practical work attire suitable for a repair and maintenance shop. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Council Bluffs, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
