Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Fleet Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy-duty and industrial vehicles. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of equipment including trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. Your expertise will ensure our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our operational excellence every day. Duties Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on heavy equipment such as chippers, mini tractors, and industrial machinery using schematics and automotive diagnostics tools. Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspensions, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and electrical components to ensure optimal performance. Fabricate and modify equipment parts using hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and soldering to meet specific operational needs. Maintain vehicle safety standards through alignment checks, tire service, brake repairs, and wheel assembly to guarantee safe operation across all fleet assets. Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to safety protocols and industry best practices. Document all maintenance activities meticulously in service records; interpret schematics for complex repairs; perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in heavy equipment operation and automotive repair. Dealership experience or similar automotive service background highly preferred. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex machinery such as John Deer or other heavy-duty brands. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential. Knowledge of diesel engine repair, hydraulic systems, air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, and electrical troubleshooting. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; comfortable working with hand tools and diagnostic equipment for extended periods. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members and clients alike.
